Glencairn Crystal cracks the luxury spirits market

Glencairn – Scotland’s leading crystal company – has announced an expansion of its work within the luxury spirit decanter and glassware sector.

The family owned award-winning business located just outside Glasgow, is increasing its luxury credentials through the ongoing expansion of the hand finishing and bespoking team.

As the business continues to grow, so has the demand from brands looking for a premium crystal company who can provide an extraordinary level of bespoke details. Glencairn is proud to have a dedicated team who have been carefully selected for their expertise and level of craftsmanship. The team works exclusively on hand embellishing and finishing high end bottles and decanters, some of which have been commissioned to carry the oldest and rarest spirits around the world, most notably for whisky brands. This team has grown year on year, with a dedicated in-house development team who specialise in 3D design, metal ware, specialist gem stones application.

Recent launches of super premium and luxury products have enabled Glencairn to truly perfect their knowledge and expertise within this sector. Sourcing gemstones that are applied to the decanters and bottles, to fine metalwork and embossing detail. The business is seeing an exponential increase in demand for super luxury packaging, the time and investment in training of new staff will only enhance the company’s ability to respond to the growing demand in the sector.

Collaborations with brands such as Glenmorangie, Glenfarclas, Karuizawa and Gordon & MacPhail have meant that the company can showcase, not only the occasional high-end luxury decanter, but an entire portfolio of totally unique projects that show the breadth of creativity and innovation being borne out of their expanding team.

Glencairn’s recent launched luxury decanters include:

Glenfarclas Pagoda: The Pagoda series is a range of decanters designed and created using different metals and embellishments. The series comprises a set of three decanters in bronze, silver and gold sold together for around £28,000. The new Ruby Release for the Glenfarclas 62 Year Old was the first decanter Glencairn has produced with rubies set into the design itself. This was launched recently at the RRP of £34,000 each and a Magnum size at £75000.

Glenmorangie Pride 1974: The oldest and rarest Glenmorangie ever released, this 41-year-old single malt is a marriage of two whiskies from two casks, one matured for its entire life in ex-bourbon casks, the other in ex-Oloroso sherry butts. The decanter echoes the style of the previous Pride bottles, with delicate gold leafing and plating around the neck. It was released in the UK in May, RRP: £7,500.

 

Karuizawa:  An exceptional 40-year-old whisky, this bottle was commissioned by La Maison du Whisky, designed to incorporate the cultural history between Japan and France through Japonisme – the artistic movement between the two countries. The bottle uses  (add details..)

Gordon & MacPhail: The leading independent bottler commissioned Glencairn to create a stunning bottle for their 75 YO Mortlach. The Generations release as it was named, was around £20,000 and the oldest whisky ever bottled.
